The first performance of Chance to Dance was in Edenbridge Kent in 1993.  Ten dancing schools were invited and one performance was staged.  This proved to be successful and has grown each year in popularity.  Chance to Dance has always been an opportunity for dancers to perform on a professional sized stage which is something not all dancing schools or dance clubs are able to offer.  Many different styles of dance are performed and there is a varied range of ability but the one thing that all the dancers have in common it their love of dance.  Chance to Dance is non- competitive and it is extremely rewarding to see at each performance the encouragement the performers show to each other and the general friendliness backstage.

I fully realise the importance of giving opportunities not just to young dancers but to all age groups.

Thousands of dancers since 1993 have had the opportunity to perform with Chance to Dance and I very much hope they have gained both experience and confidence performing with others on such lovely professional stages.

In 2009 Chance to Dance spread its wings into Devon and 2011 Sussex.

As from August 2023 the performances in Kent and West Sussex will continue under a new leadership and I will continue to run the Exeter performances which are now Chance to Dance Exeter.

I have been involved in the dancing world since the early 1970’s running my own dancing schools and am a Life Member of the Royal Academy of Dance.  In summer of 2011 I retired from teaching and now am able to work more specifically on the administration and co-ordination of Chance to Dance.  All Chance to Dance Exeter crew have an Enhanced DBS and some are also Licensed Chaperones.

My vision has always been to offer dance performances where people’s lives are enriched and dancers’ confidence gained.

I very much look forward to welcoming schools to Chance to Dance Exeter
